Strategic Manpower Conversion Programme (Intellectual Property)
Description
  • To expand the existing pool of IP professionals which companies can draw upon through retraining and conversion.

  • To incentivise Singapore-based companies to develop more in-house IP capabilities and manpower that will help them to better optimise their intellectual assets for further sustained economic and business growth.
Eligibility Criteria
  • For Employers:
    • Must be a Singapore registered organisation
    • Must deploy sponsored employees in IP or IP-related jobs after the completion of the conversion programme

  • For Trainees:
    • Opened to individual and company-sponsored employee with Diploma or Degree
    • Must be a Singaporean or Singapore Permanent Resident
    • Not be holding an IP related job at time of application
    • Not be in possession of formal qualifications in IP
    • Not in receipt of any previous financial support under the series of SMCP
    • Must complete at least 75% of the training and pass all examinations required by the conversion programme
Funding Support
  • Coursefee Support: 50% of course fees, or S$4,000, whichever is lower

  • Training Allowance: 50% of the trainees' basic salary capped at S$800, for the entire period of full time training only

  • On the Job Incentive: 50% of the trainees' basic salary capped at S$800 per month for a maximum of 3 months

Strategic Manpower Conversion Programme (Healthcare)
Description
  • Targeted at augmenting the pool of healthcare manpower in the following ways:
    • Assist healthcare institutions to convert and train existing non-healthcare trained* staff to take on healthcare positions.
    • Assist non-healthcare trained Singaporeans who are keen to work in the healthcare sector to embark on long-term professional healthcare careers by acquiring relevant healthcare training.

  • * Non-Healthcare Assistants, non Nursing and Non-Allied Health Professions
Eligibility Criteria
  • For companies / healthcare institutions who wish to sponsor new trainees or existing staff , you must be:
    • Registered in Singapore.
    • Able to offer SMCP (Health-
      care) trainees employment in the positions relevant to their training upon their graduation

  • For individuals and company sponsored trainees, you must:
    • Be Singaporean / PR.
    • Meet entry requirements of training programmes under SMCP (Health-care).
    • Not be holding nursing or allied healthcare position nor be holding healthcare qualifications similar to the training sought, at the point of application.
    • With a minimum of two years working experience.
    • Not have received any previous financial support under the SMCP.
    • Complete at least 75% of the training and pass all examinations required by the conversion programme.
    • Fulfil the terms set by the sponsoring healthcare institutions.
Funding Support
  • Coursefee Support:
    100% of coursefee support
    (WDA provides 50% of coursefee, up to $4,000. Healthcare institutions will co-sponsor the balance of the course fee payable)

  • Training Allowance:
    $950/month (first year) and $1,000/month (second year)
    (WDA provides up to 50% of last drawn salary, or up to S$800/month, whichever is lower. Healthcare institutions will co-sponsor the balance of the course fee payable)

  • OJT Allowance:
    On-the-Job Training (OJT) Wage Support:
    WDA will provide 50% of salary, or $800 per month, whichever is lower, for 1st three months for healthcare institutions who employ SMCP (Healthcare) graduates.
Course Duration
  • Please check with individual training providers for their dates and courses.
    • 2 - year Diploma in Nursing (Accelerated) at Nanyang Polytechnic

  • 2 - year Diploma in Nursing (Accelerated) at Nanyang Polytechnic
    • Applicants should be degree graduates from reputable universities or diploma graduates from local polytechnics;
    • Applicants must also have at least two years of full-time working experience.

Strategic Manpower Conversion Programme (Social And Community Services)
The SMCP (Social Service) has temporarily deferred from February 2005 till further notice. Existing SMCP applicants will not be affected.
Description
  • Aims to train a pool of social workers and social work assistants to meet the increasing manpower demand in the community and social services sector.
Eligibility Criteria
  • Trainees must:
    • Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents
    • have the desire to work in the social service sector
    • take up a career in the social service sector as a social worker or social work assistant within 12 months of the completion of the course
    • Possess a degree other than social work if applying for Graduate Diploma in Social Work
    • Possess O Level and above if applying for Specialist Diploma in Human Services

  • This programme is also applicable to persons currently working as non-social workers in a Voluntary Welfare Organisation (VWO), who wish to embark on a career in social work.
Funding Support
  • Offer a 50% subsidy of the course fees (capped at $4,000) to applicants who sign up for the Graduate Diploma in Social Work or Specialist Diploma in Human Services, provided they take up a job in the social service sector within 12 months of the completion of the course.
Course Duration
    • 18 months (part-time) / 12 months (full-time)
    • Tenable at NUS
  • Specialist Diploma in Human Services
    • 12 months (part-time)
    • Tenable at NCSS and SIM

    Critical Infocomm Technology Resource Programme (CITREP)
    Description
    • Aims to accelerate the development of emerging, critical and specialised infocomm skills required by the industry.

    • Skill areas supported include applications/ software development, e-commerce development, internet technologies, networking, IT project management, infocomm security technology, wireless commun-
      ications and speech technology.
    Eligibility Criteria
    • Trainees must:
      • Be Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents
      • Be fully self-sponsored
      • Hold an infocomm qualifica-
        tions or have infocomom working experience
      • Meet the admission criteria for the training course
    Funding Support
    • Support of up to 70% of course and examination fees (if any), capped at $3,500 per trainee per year.
      *Individual pays $1,000 to $3,000

    • Exam Fees
      Support of up to 70% of exam fees capped at $1,500 per certification exam per year.

    • Re-skilling Allowance
      Support of up to $40 per day capped at $800 per month for a maximum of 3 months.
    Course Duration
    • Range from 5 days to 6 months depending on the course
